How do I get my copier out of the sleep mode to copy my papers?

I own a brother DCP-1000 but I can’t get it out of the sleep mode to copy my papers. How do I reset the copier? My copier is not hooked up to my computer and I only use it for copying paper, not for faxing or anything else. When I press the green copy button, the button seems to be stiff. Help!

    Turn off/on the main switch or unplug and replug.
    The button may be dirty use a can of air and blow it.

    Yes, definitely unplug it and leave it unplugged for 5-10 minutes.
    Then see what happens.
    Read your Users Manual and see if it has a troubleshooting section.
