Both work the same, but one makes copies and the other does not

A scanner with produce an “image file” of what you put in it for your computer. While a copier will “print” a replica of what you put in it.

In reality they perform the same function. They both actually scan the document and output it somewhere. If you need a specific distinction a scanner outputs the scanned document to a file and can use an OCR (optical character reader) to capture text. A copier outputs the scanned document to paper.

It can be the same, but it can also be different. You would have to analyze the specific copier to see if it is a scanner as well.
Some copiers just copy and print… newer office Copiers do have scanning capabilities as well…I have used the HP LJ 4345 MFP at work to print, copy and print, scan and email, and scan and save to the network at work

Scanner creates an image and stores it in a file on the computer. You could then print the image.
Copier scans the document and prints a copy on paper.

Well the obvious answer is that a scanner scan any type of physical document to the computer and it does not print out unless you want to print it. While a copier copy the physical document and print it out.

In a multifunction printer a scanner is capable of scanning an object into an email, image, or a file. A copy simply scans the document and then spits out a copy. Scanning is what a fax machine would use it scans the image into memory then shoots it across the data line.
Scanners usually make a digital copy while a copier makes a paper copy of the image.
Wikipedia.com and put scanner in and choose 3d scanner and copier will come up to its own page.

Hi, husband here and my point was that a copier has to be able to scan in order to copy.
