    Yes, have copied mine many times…I live in Mexico and must submit a copy every time I renew my visa.

    Yes, in fact I usually put a copy of my passport in each of my suitcases.

    yes it is safe, ive done it many times with no problems at all

    Perfectly safe. And when you do travel overseas, it is a good idea to take a photocopy of your passport, drivers license, credit cards etc. in case the originals get lost/stolen.
